I've discovered that I soon get bored with the same old routine for working out. Plus, I'm in a rush and many times need to cram in a quick 30 minute work out or divide my time between something with cardio to get my day going but something to relax me at the end of a hectic day.
There are two tools that I have come to rely on as a stand by for something both useful and fun.
2. Podrunner
Yoga Download is a site that provides you with yoga routines that you can take anywhere with you. I can throw in my mat and iPod for some additional workouts that help me to build strength and flexibility with ease. If you want quick and free downloads, you can access these routines from iTunes with 20 Minute Yoga from Yoga Downloads. However, for a more extensive list of workouts and routines Yoga Download does provide services for several different fee options.
Some of my favorite 20 minute routines include: Moon Salutations for relaxation, Yoga for Weight Loss, or Morning Flow. The free podcast available on iTunes also includes a pose guide that you can download in PDF format.
You can optimize your cardio routine with Podrunner. You can choose from a selection of mixes that include one hour workouts or interval training routines. These can be done indoors on a treadmill or outdoors at your favorite run spot.
Or, if you are feeling really lucky, get out there and search for the fitness tool of your choice.
Whatever you choose, make it fun and worth your while. Even when you are on the go, there is always time for a quick work out at the beginning or end of your day. Your body will thank you mentally and physically!
